Modern choirs for people who love to sing

A trip down memory lane

January is a month in which we look ahead at the year to come, make resolutions and wonder what the following 12 months will bring.

I am instead going to ask you to take a little look back. Since joining inChoir, what is YOUR favourite memory, moment or experience? How did you come to join inChoir?

I've been a member of inChoir for almost 5 years, since the Crawley choir opened in 2011. I still remember that first session at Ifield College. I had heard about the choir from Mark, and I also knew Karen from our amateur dramatics days. Since I lived just up the road and was looking for somewhere to sing, I decided to go along to the first session to see what it was all about... I think it's safe to say that I was sold at Mark's first joke and the rest, as they say, is history!

Countless performances, hundreds of songs and hours of laughter later, you now have the pleasure of reading my ramblings and I assist Mark at the Dorking daytime choir. My favourite experience of all time was performing at The Minack Theatre, which had been on my am-dram bucket list for years. So to have the honour of performing there as the sun set, with dolphins swimming in the sea behind us...I was very emotional that day. I remember looking up at the audience as they all swayed along (which made me feel a little sea sick!) and welling up at it all. I had the honour of singing an amazing trio with two very talented singers in Karen and Kath. Then the whole choir sang the stunning 'Anthem' from Chess. It was one of my proudest moments ever.

Is there a particular moment that stands out in your memory?

Please do email me with your story!
