Modern choirs for people who love to sing

inChoir in Cornwall

It's a trip that we've now completed on no less than three separate occasions but it still had all the charm, anticipation and drama from the first time we ventured towards the south west coastal county of Cornwall.

The highlight was undoubtedly a performance at the unique and fabulous Minack open air theatre underneath the stars and within stone-throwing distance of the sea, but let's not forget an engagement at Exeter Cathedral on the Friday night, dinner prepared and served by students at Cornwall Catering College, visits to both St Ives and the Eden Project, and a little time for a spot of zip-wiring!

The weather treated us kindly on Sunday evening at the Minack and the audience of around 200 were royally treated to 109 of inChoir's finest members performing an array of songs including 'December 1963 (Oh What a Night)', 'I'll Stand By You' and 'In the Ghetto' - all this coming after we arrived several hours late for our rehearsal after the coaches got stuck on the narrow winding lanes!

More tardiness followed on the way home as we were stuck in amongst the heavy bank holiday traffic, delaying our arrival at Clarks Outlet Village in Street, but fear not, all's well that end's well and the coaches set off on the final leg home packed to the rafters with posh looking shopping bags!

It's truly inspiring to see first hand the buzz and excitement that singing in extrodinary places such as the Minack Theatre can generate amongst our delightful members; a buzz which is still lingering in weekly singing sessions more than two weeks on. What a great group of people you all are!

inChoir will be travelling to Liverpool for a Swinging Sixties weekend in October and then to sunny Spain next February. Perhaps we'll see you there?
